These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Recline Ltd ("Recline", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales, governing your access to and use of the Recline mobile apps, the Recline website at reclineapp.com, and all related features (together, the "Service").
By creating an account or starting a trial, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Recline about the Service and replace any earlier agreement or understanding on the same subject.
To use most of the Service you need an account. You agree to give us accurate information, to keep your login details confidential, and not to share your account or let anyone else access it. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account. Tell us straight away at contact@reclineapp.com if you think someone else has accessed your account without permission.
Recline asks who's watching and what mood you're in, then recommends one thing to watch from the streaming services you've told us you have. We rely on third-party data to know what's available on which service (see Section 10), and that data can occasionally be out of date or wrong. Tapping "Watch" opens the relevant streaming app; Recline doesn't host or stream video itself.
Please don't use the Service to break the law, try to access someone else's account, interfere with our systems, reverse-engineer the app, or scrape, resell or republish our recommendations or data at scale. We can suspend or terminate accounts that do any of these things — see Section 12.
A Household plan lets one account holder set up profiles for up to six people, including kids profiles. Watchlists and match scores within a household are visible to the account holder and shared with the profiles on that plan, but are not made public or visible to other Recline users outside the household. The account holder is responsible for keeping a Household plan to people who genuinely share a household.
Recline uses Anthropic's Claude models to help turn your mood, taste profile and watch history into a recommendation. Recommendations are suggestions, not guarantees — you might not love every pick, and you can always ask Recline to try again. We don't send your name, email address or account credentials to Anthropic; see our Privacy Policy for exactly what is and isn't shared.
Streaming availability and title information is provided by the Streaming Availability API by Movie of the Night. Recline is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Netflix, Disney+, the BBC, or any other streaming service, and we don't claim any such affiliation. Prices, catalogues and availability on those services are set by them, not us, can change without notice, and we're not responsible for their accuracy, their content, or your subscriptions with them.
The Recline name, logo, app and website are owned by us or our licensors. Streaming service names, logos and artwork shown in the app belong to their respective owners and are used only to show you where a title is available. All rights not expressly given to you in these Terms are reserved.
You can delete your account at any time from account settings or by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms, engage in fraud or illegal activity, or where we're required to by law. If we terminate your account other than for a breach on your part, we'll refund any unused part of a prepaid period.
We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill, but streaming availability and recommendation data can be incomplete or wrong, and we don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to exclude — including your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect, and you can cancel if you don't agree with it. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any right you have to bring a claim in the courts of the country you live in as a consumer. We'd rather sort a problem out directly — email us first at the address below before starting anything formal.
