Recline Ltd, registered in England and Wales, is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We collect only what we need to give you one good recommendation — not to build a profile of you for any other purpose. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have.
To generate your recommendations, run the free trial and subscription reminders you're entitled to, provide customer support, fix bugs, and meet our legal obligations — for example under the UK's subscription contract rules.
Recline uses Anthropic's Claude models to turn your mood and taste signals into a recommendation. We send Anthropic your mood selection, the streaming services you have, and taste signals such as genres or titles you've responded well to — not your name, email address, or account credentials. Anthropic processes this to help generate a recommendation and does not use it to build a profile of you for its own purposes.
We share data with the service providers that make Recline work, and each is only given what it needs to do its job:
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with streaming services or advertisers for their own marketing purposes.
An account holder on a Household plan can add profiles for up to six people, including kids profiles for household members under 18. Kids profiles have their own taste data but no access to account, payment or subscription details, and are managed entirely by the account holder, who is responsible for what's appropriate for the people they add.
Some of our service providers, including Anthropic, may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards such as the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum to keep your data protected to UK standards.
We keep your account and taste data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your taste profile and watch history, other than records we're required to keep for accounting or legal reasons, which we keep only as long as the law requires.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. No system is completely secure. If we ever have a data breach likely to affect you, we'll tell you and the ICO as required by law.
Under UK GDPR, you can ask to see a copy of your data, correct anything inaccurate, delete your account and its data, export your taste profile, and object to or restrict certain uses of your data. Most of these are available directly from your account settings in the app. For anything else, email us below. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you think we've handled your data incorrectly.
We may update this policy as the product changes. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
